Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
How do I switch between metric and imperial?
Go to Settings (gear icon on the Home screen) → Units → select Metric (mm) or Imperial (ft/in). All calculators update instantly. You can switch at any time.
How do I change the theme to light mode?
Go to Settings → Theme → choose Dark, Light, or Follow System.
Does the app work offline?
Yes — 100% offline. No internet connection is required for any calculation. The app works on site, underground, in rural areas, or anywhere with no signal.
I subscribed / purchased — do I need to pay again on a new device?
No. Sign in to the same Google account on your new device, reinstall from the Play Store, and tap Restore Purchase on the paywall screen. Your access will be restored instantly.
Calculators
Why does the Stairs calculator show an amber warning on the rise height?
Australian building code recommends a maximum riser height of 220mm. If your calculated rise exceeds this, the app shows an amber warning. You can still proceed — it's a warning, not a blocker.
What is the difference between Raked Walls Mode A and Mode B?
Mode A — you know the pitch angle and the low-side height. The app calculates the high side and all stud lengths.
Mode B — you know both the low and high side heights. The app calculates the pitch and stud lengths from that.
How does the Dumpy Level calculator work?
Enter your Benchmark RL, your staff reading at the benchmark, and your staff reading at the point you're measuring. The app calculates the Height of Instrument (HI) and the Reduced Level (RL) of your measured point. All values are in metres and can be negative (valid surveying values).
What does the Pitch calculator's "10 modes" mean?
A pitch triangle has 5 values: Rise, Run, Angle, % Grade, and Pitch (X/12). If you know any 2 of them, the app can calculate the rest. That gives 10 possible input combinations — one for each mode.
How do I use the voice readout on Baluster Spacing / Running Measurements?
After entering your values and getting a result, tap the speaker icon in the top-right of the screen. The app will read each mark aloud. Tap again to stop. Make sure your device volume is on.
Can I share my calculation results?
Yes. Once a result is shown, tap the share icon in the top-right. This generates a formatted text summary of your inputs and results that you can send via any app (Messages, WhatsApp, Email, etc.).
Billing & Subscription
How much does MeisterCalc cost?
The first 3 calculators (Concrete, Stairs, Check Square) are always free. To unlock all 15 you have two options:
- Weekly subscription — starts with a free 3-day trial, then billed weekly. Cancel anytime from the Play Store.
- Lifetime purchase — one-time payment, yours forever with no renewals.
Prices are shown in the app in your local currency. No ads, no hidden charges.
How do I start the free trial?
Tap any locked calculator or the upgrade banner on the Home screen. On the paywall, tap Start 3-Day Free Trial. No charge is applied until the trial ends. You can cancel at any time before then from the Google Play Store → Subscriptions.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open the Google Play Store app → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → MeisterCalc → Cancel subscription. You keep access until the end of your current billing period.
I subscribed / purchased but results are still locked — what do I do?
This usually happens after a reinstall or device change. Here's how to fix it:
- Open MeisterCalc and tap any locked calculator.
- Scroll to the bottom of the paywall screen.
- Tap Restore Purchase.
This re-verifies your entitlement with Google Play and unlocks the app instantly. Make sure you're signed in to the same Google account you used to subscribe or purchase.
If Restore Purchase doesn't work, email us at meruappsdev@gmail.com with your Google Play order number (found at play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory) and we'll sort it out for you.
Do I need to pay again on a new device?
No. Your access is tied to your Google account. Install MeisterCalc on any device, sign in with the same Google account, and tap Restore Purchase on the paywall — it unlocks for free.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Google Play. You can request one within 48 hours of purchase through the Play Store app or at play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory. After 48 hours, email us at meruappsdev@gmail.com and we'll do our best to help.
Still need help?
I found a bug — how do I report it?
Email us at meruappsdev@gmail.com with:
• Your Android version and device model
• What calculator you were using
• What you expected vs. what happened
We'll investigate and fix it in the next update.
Can I request a new calculator?
Absolutely — we love feature requests from tradies. Email meruappsdev@gmail.com with your idea. We're actively building v1.5 (roofing, materials) and v2.0 (advanced geometry) and tradie feedback directly shapes what gets built next.
